Save Your Skin: 4 Easy Tips to Boost Your Natural Radiance

Written By  Go Vita

Your skin is the first thing you see when you look in the mirror. Whether it’s plump and glowing, or dry and tired, your skin is just one of the tell-tale signs of your overall health.

Keeping skin happy and hydrated can be hard work! To make it simple, here’s our top 4 tips to help care for your skin.

Tip 1: The wonders of hydration!

Keeping the body hydrated ensures that vital nutrients reach the skin to support it’s structural and functional integrity, while also supporting the elimination of toxins that may otherwise negatively affect skin quality.

It’s recommended adults consume 2-3 litres of water daily for optimal hydration. Apart from sipping water, other ways to keep yourself hydrated include munching on fresh fruit and vegetables (e.g. watermelon and cucumber), smoothies and soups!

Tip 2: Be eager to exfoliate

Exfoliation is essential for clearing dead skin cells to unearth the new skin cells beneath. Doing this on a regular basis (about twice a week) can unlock your skin’s natural glow by improving its tone and texture. Exfoliants can be either physical or chemical, and the one you choose will depend on your skin type.
Physical exfoliants use an abrasive agent, e.g. small beads or granules, whereas chemical exfoliants use acids to dissolve surface skin cells. The latter type is most suitable for those blemished skin as physical exfoliants may aggravate the skin further.

Tip 3: Try a DIY face mask

No need to trawl the cosmetic aisle of the supermarket, just look into your pantry! Oats, the star grains used to make porridge, can form the basis of an easy-to-make soothing face mask. Oats contain avenanthramides, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that can relieve dry, itchy and irritated skin.

For a basic mask, combine 3 tablespoons of ground oats, with 1 tablespoon of hot water and 1 tablespoon of honey. For a cooling version, replace the honey with Greek yoghurt. Apply the paste to your face, then let the skin-soothing session run its course for 10-15 minutes.

Tip 4: Consider skin-loving ingredients in Herbs of Gold

Despite being used for centuries by traditional medicine practitioners, only recently has Sea buckthorn oil made waves in the modern therapeutic scene for its incredible health benefits.
Harvested from the berry (fruit and seed), Sea buckthorn oil is well-known for its vivid orange-red hue that is rich in a range of medicinal substances, particularly beneficial fatty acids including omega-3, 6, 7 and 9, as well as plant sterols, vitamin E and carotenoids.

Herbs of Gold Sea Buckthorn Oil contains an organic, sustainably sourced Sea buckthorn oil providing a balance of omega fatty acids to support skin health and hydration.
