Weleda has been committed to nature and society for 100 years. The international non-profit B Lab has now certified that Weleda is making the world a better place through their corporate culture.

Business as a force for good is the underlying vision of B Lab. Founded in the USA in 2006, this non-profit organisation certifies for-profit companies as B Corporations. The ‘B’ stands for ‘beneficial’ and the benefits to society and the environment these businesses provide.

The global B Corp community aims to make the planet a better place. How? By putting business practices to the test, and only granting certification according to strict criteria: What values does a company live by? What rights do its employees have? What is its impact on the environment, society and customers? A company with certified B Corp status means that it meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance.

Weleda has always been committed to sustainability, and striven for an environmentally sustainable and socially equitable future. In particular, Weleda’s certified natural skincare and their equitable relationships with cultivation partners earned B Lab’s praise. B Corp certification means Weleda can put their objectives for climate protection into practice more effectively.

Climate protection The initial focus of Weleda’s efforts is on their buildings, production facilities and vehicle fleet. They will also be improving the environmental performance of all products, including transport, supply chains, agricultural cultivation of raw materials, and packaging. By 2025, Weleda aims to have dramatically reduced their financial carbon footprint.

The global community As part of the B Corp community, Weleda will be an active role model. Stefan Siemer, Weleda’s Head of Sustainability, says: "B Corporations show that financial, social and environmental goals can be achieved simultaneously."
